I don't think the old Shorten plugin is usable with MJ/MC12 (I assume you tried to install the plugin).

Whenever I have downloaded SHN files from Live Music Archive my first step is to convert them to Monkey's Audio or FLAC. These formats offer better compression and tagging support. MC11.1 works with the old plugin and can be used as a converter. Of course there are several other programs that can convert Shorten files as well.

thanks
i know about SHN and you right , no need to keep it as SHN
More and more shows are on FLAC , by the way.

It was just that i wanted to install MJ on a friend computer and he got lot of SHN

Anyway , why SHN listed in the import options in this case ?

Better to remove it in this case
I use foobar cause there is a plugin who tag files from the text file
That's cool

Do not know why there is no SHN pluging in MC and MC 12, people dealing with SHN are kind of 'advanced users' and the ones who may use MC or MJ

I'd never heard of it.  (Not a huge surprise.)  Anywho, removed from the defaults in the next version.  Should a plugin materialize it would be added back.

let's say one of the first lossless format SHN or Shorten

was mainly use for full shows , legal on sites like http://www.archive.org/details/etree
less legal on some boots sites
Main limitation = cannot be taged

More and more FLAC is the format by now
But still quite a lot of SHN files around
It was cool to be able to import , convert SHN files in MJ and MC
Was ok up to Mc 11

Anyway , good thing to remove it from the list of import files

You can use the shnamp plugin (in_shn.dll) that was developed for winamp v2  (see: http://etree.org/shnamp.html).  Just copy it to the media jukebox plugins directory and then use the plug in manager in mj12 to add the plugin into the application.  I haven't tried the shnamp v3.
