New Hardware to add to supported list
« on: January 26, 2008, 07:50:17 am »

Hi All !

I just bought myself a " Popcorn Hour  " unit.
http://www.popcornhour.com/onlinestore/

Eventho i LOVE the hardware, the software that comes with it , is somewhat
strict, and doesnt leave much up to personlize for the user.

So i went on a quest on google, to try find something else, and i came across
this J River media center thingie.. And it works... The mp3's , and various Xvids,
works like a charm on my upnp device, but for some reason my .mkv files wont show up.

The show and play just fine, from within the media center application on the pc, but
for some reason they just wont show up when browsing the directories from the upnp device ( popcorn hour ).
id gladly pay for this software if i ever got the .mkv's to play.

I did browse and search the forum for topics regarding .mkv and matroska, but all i could find
were people having trouble playing it on their computers.

Any and all ideas are welcome..

Kind Regards, From sweden

Welcome to the forum and thanks for the feedback.

MKV files are a container format and can anything stored inside.  MC12 puts them in the Data category if it can't tell what's inside.  This will change with the next public build (in a few days).  But you can change the media type by editing the tags/properties.

You could find other threads on this.  Try a search here for "media type".

thanks for the quick reply !

Sorry for me beeing stupid, ive been using this software for approx 45 minutes.
however , i did do a search on the suggested " media type " , only gave me one hit apart from this thread.

I did find the " tag " thingie, but i have no CLUE whatsoever on what tag i need to change, and from what
to what..

If you could find it in your self to try help me out with a small tutorial or atleast point me in the right direction,
ill try it on my own.

Kind Regards,

Odd.  I get multiple threads when I use the search.

Here's one that should help:

One of the tag fields is "Media type".  You may need to add it to the view scheme you're using.
