License to copy
« on: January 28, 2008, 10:37:39 am »

I don't have a problem on my home PC to create a disc but I'm getting
a license problem when creating one at work.  Normally, at home a pop up
from Microsoft comes up for license download but it doesn't at work.
How do I turn off the license problem.

Are you burning protected WMA files?

You need a license (with a non-zero burn count) for this to work.

Please contact the provider of the music service.

It's possible that WMP had the "personal protection" setting on when the WMA files were created.  If so, you'll need to re-rip.

Make sure you aren't ripping with Microsoft's "Personal rights management" thing set.  This DRMs your local files.

Explain one thing, if I can do it on my home PC, why can't I do it on my
work PC.  Again, once in a while when I'm burning a disc at home, the
Microsoft page pops up and asks me to down load a license.  I click on
it and then it allows me to copy off the file from MC to a CD.

Please try a google search on this problem.  Some versions of WMP defaulted to tying the music to your PC.  It's a Microsoft problem.  You could try contacting them to explain it.
