Another Smartlist question
« on: January 30, 2008, 05:31:11 pm »

I currently keep CD data in MS Access basicly just to print list showing albums sorted by artist.  Is there a way to do this with MC and just show Artist/album?
Thanks

try this:

Create a new smartlist called something descriptive such as Offline Media.
Click on the Import/Export" button and paste in the following: [Media Type]="audio" ~d=c ~limit=-1,1,[album artist (auto)],[album] ~sort=[Album Artist (auto)],[Album]
Press the OK button, Press the OK button again.

Next, hover the mouse over the header menu and look for "customise current view" in the popup menu. click on that.
In the "Columns to show" area, click on presets, load, empty.
Next, click on the add button, hover over "field" and choose "Image (small icon)"
Next, click on the add button, hover over "field" and choose "Album Artist (auto)"
Next, click on the add button, hover over "field" and choose "Album"
Click on OK.

You now have a view scheme that contains a single track from every offline album that MC knows about, be it a retail audio cd, or audio files backed up on cd or dvd. All of the audio "note" icons in the left-most column should be orange. This indicates to you that the files are not imported into your main library. this is good, keep it that way!!
From the top toolbar, click on "File > Print List" and you should see a print preview similar to this:

That do for you?
