Sonos Meta Data in JRiver
« on: February 15, 2008, 02:31:53 pm »

I've got about 39,000 FLac files in MC, but only about 32,000 are showing up in my Sonos system. When I spoke to the Sonos folks, they said they have a 50,000 song limit, but that the players are running out of memory because I have too much metadata.

I'd like to be able to access my entire database. Do I eliminate some tags from MC, and if so, how do I go about this?

Thanks.

MC has a Library Manager (under File) where you could set up a new, test library.  You could remove some of your files from your library or edit them.

Be careful since you could lose data or even files.  If you have space, copy your files to a new location as a backup.

The only metadata that would take up much space would be cover art, lyrics, and bios.  Maybe notes.  You can try selecting a few files and edit the tags to remove it.

How do you share the files from MC?

Removing files is exactly what I don't want to do.

Part of the set up for Sonos is to set sharing permissions. I have all my music on two hard drives (G and I) and these are both shared files for Sonos.

Sonos does use only a small number of fields, while MC has many.
I don't know enough about the underpinnings of either MC or Sonos to be able to figure out what I should try to do to rectify this problem.
Any suggestions?
