From time to time MC generates a cpu load which saturates the system for quite a long time (several minutes).
My library includes about 55000 files (mainly audio and images)
I'm interested in understanding what's the task that generates such load and if there are any possibilities to "govern" it, in terms of schedule etc.
Thanks in advance for any information about the issue.

Maybe that this was the case.... now I've excluded the autoimport folder and deselected the Build thumbnails box... will see!

Autoimport by itself shouldn't do it.

Thumbnails could only do it if there are many missing.

A virus checker is a much more likely cause.

Since the Windows Task Manager indicated a 99% utilization by Media Center I think that the origin should be Media Center itself, and not the virus checker.
I think that it's a periodic activity of Media Center: library reorganization? Ipod alignment? thumbnail build?
A possible explanation is the fact that the System Info that I've attached indicated the presence of an Ipod, while at that moment an external Store&Play hard disk was connected, with a copy of my entire library plus several divx files.... it looks like MC was considering that disk as an Ipod to refresh. Currently the external disk is off, the system info doesn't mention an Ipod, and the cpu load is low...
I'll make some more tests.
