MC Server and MC Client
« on: March 26, 2008, 11:18:42 am »

Hi
I've got an odd thing going on that may just be "the way it works" but I haven't found any indication either way.

I've got MC12 setup on my "server" machine, running the Server app, and that's fine. The server has a database that it automatically opens and makes available.

On my Workstation, I run MC12 and "connect" to the server (Using FIND SERVERS) and that works just fine. I can play tracks etc, no problem.

Here's the rub.

On my WORKSTATION, I create a new smartlist, set it up and open it, it shows the tracks I'm looking for and I can play them just fine

But if I CLOSE MC12 on my workstation and reopen it, that playlist is gone.

Is this normal operation or am I missing something?

NOTE: I can open MC12 on my SERVER, create a new smartlist, save it, and it shows up on my Workstation when I load MC from there.

Thanks
Darin

Hi Darin,

Unfortunately, this is normal. The database cannot be written, only read, so any changes you  make are local and are lost when you exit MC.

Ah, well, that would explain it!

At least the TIVO support seems to work very solidly now, so that's definitely good news.

Maybe remotely createable playlists/smartlists could be put on a future version list?<g>

Anyways, thanks for the info!
