Adding items to "Drives and Devices" side menu

Is it possible to add items to the "drives and devices" side menu with a plug-in?

No.  But it may be possible to add a service.  What's your plan?

I've added uPnP device discovery to JR via an "interface plug-in", and the plan is to add the discovered devices (renderers and media servers) to the Devices menu...
From there, I'd want to be able to attach a (upnp renderer) device to a zone, and have it follow the currently playing track.

This is a nice idea. Keep in mind it is something we might choose to do in house as well. I'd suggest getting the plug-in working without modifying the device tree, and then we'll take a look at getting it in the device tree.

Great to hear you consider it a useful feature too.  There are a handful of decent UPnP media renderers on the market, but they all need a much better user interface.

I'll keep hacking...
