Intelliremote now controls JRiver MC from iPhone/iPod Touch
« on: September 07, 2008, 09:56:48 pm »

Intelliremote for iPhone/iPod Touch has been released on the Apple Appstore today.

Intelliremote Client for iPhone/iPod Touch is a native iPhone application that allows you to control your home theatre PC running Windows. Since the iPhone uses a network connection it does not need "line-of-sight" like traditional infrared remotes and you can use it anywhere in or out of your house!

The purpose of this program is simple: to allow complete control of your Home Theatre PC from your iPhone with the touch of a finger. While Apple has provided an iPhone remote for ITunes...what about the rest of us that don't use ITunes?

Do you use VLC or JRiver Media Center to watch videos? Do you use GBPVR, DVBViewer, MediaCenter, XBMC, or SageTV for DVR? Maybe Winamp, MediaMonkey, BSPlayer, or ITunes for music? Control them all from the comfort of your iPhone or iPod Touch!  A custom JRiver Media Center profile is included with the Intelliremote installer.

Sounds like what a bunch of us have been waiting for.
Has anyone installed this and tried it out?
Any screenshots or user reviews would be excellent to see what it looks like.
The melloware site doesn't make it easy to find MC12 support anywhere but MC12 is referenced in a profiles zip folder.

Bit tied up importing my library right now but would like to see what this baby looks like.

Not much for screenshots on their site.
It would appear that it's just all the buttons that would be on a physical remote control.
Doesn't appear like it has a 'playing now' display or coverflow-like browsing of the library.

That is correct it emulates a 55 button MCE remote but does so without line of sight.  We have a JRiver profile preconfigured to the proper keyboard commands to Pause Play Stop etc as well as switch between Theatre view, Standard View etc.

Yeah, it's nice that it works with MC, but I already have a MCE remote. I was kinda hoping for something like the "remote" application fro itunes where you can view lists of your genres, artists etc. on the ipohne.

Good work though.

Take a look at this post.  I am working on the very app you want....

In Intelliremote PC just go to the Customize Tab.   Then right click on the profiles and choose Load New Profile...

You will find jriver.xml located in C:\Docs And Settings\USER\AppData\Intelliremote\Extras   Voila its loaded in Intelliremote and ready to use!

Well your best bet it to use the keyboard shortcut equivalent instead of the POST message commands.  For example if you look in the JRiver profile you will notice i map a button called Theater View to the keyboard event CTRL+NUMPAD4 which is the MC shortcut for switching to Theater View.  Or if you wanted to Reshuffle you could map a remote button to CTRL+R.   If there is no keyboard equivalent for what you want to use from that list...

You can instead of using a Keyboard event in Intelliremote make it an Application event where the Application is MC12.exe and the params are the command line params that you want to send from that page...

Code: [Select]
MC12.exe /MCC 10000
the above example would send the MCC_PLAY_PAUSE command to MediaCenter...
