I am trying out MJ. I have an ipod 160 g classic. My library contains both flac and m4a versions of all my files. How do I keep MJ from putting flac files on my ipod? For some reason when I did the sync random flac songs ended up on the ipod rather than the m4a version.

Welcome.

Handheld options include conversion options. Did you explore them? (for FLAC)

If you want to sync another filetype, just set up a playlist of that file type and sync it.

Others here may have better solutions.

I looked at the conversion options and set them to never convert. But I still ended up with flac files on my device

OK I'm really stumped. I can't find any place that says anything about what types to transfer. The only option I see is All Audio

So do I create a Smartlist (m4p,m4a,mp3 AND not Flac) and do a drag and drop?

In the Handheld Options, there is a list of playlists you can sync.

Make a playlist of what you want to sync. It will appear there.

Conversion is also one of the options there.
