TV Recordings When MC Isn't Running...?
« on: December 28, 2008, 10:16:11 pm »

Any chance a background scheduler is in the works to start scheduled recordings when MC isn't running?  I also have ReplayTV, and it has a task scheduler component that does this, which will also bring my laptop out of sleep mode to start a recording.

I much prefer the speed and interface of MC though, but I noticed recordings don't start unless my laptop is on, and MC is running...

I think you can, I haven't tried it but can't you run the MC media server at windows startup (Tools/Options/General) for this to work?

As rpalmer mentioned, run Media Server on Windows startup. (Options > General > Run Media Server on Windows startup)

Currently the program does not pull Windows out of a sleep state.  You must be using S1 standby, as I thought S3 couldn't run CPU operations?

Not sure what the S1-S3 lingo means, but I select START-SHUTDOWN-SLEEP and ReplayTV turns my laptop back on to record, then put's it back to 'sleep' when finished.

Is 'Run Media Server' the same as 'Run Remote Server on Port:80' ...?

On another note -- I also noticed that MC saves the recorded video in a bunch of different files within the program's directory, whereas ReplayTV saves it as a single MPG file...

No. Remote server is so you can control MC via the web.

The wiki (link above) has information on the servers in MC.
