CDDB crashing MJ?
« on: July 21, 2002, 11:43:30 am »

After a complete rebuild of my W2K system I am still having issues with MJ crashing as it tries to identify new CDs that I am trying to rip! Is this a bug? I am beginning to lose my patience with this program and may have to find a different application to maitain my CD library.

Very frustrated,

I take it your version of MJ is 8.0.333?

Proxy server or firewall?

How far does it get?  What exactly does it do?

The CDDB software itself comes from CDDB so we can't completely control it.  The problem could be there -- configuration, for example.  CDDB has its own proxy settings accessed from MJ.

You get the MJ window 'gatering infos' or something like it,the CDDB windows'connecting to' on the top of the MJ window

END OF THE STORY ,just ctrl|PLS|alt|PLS|delete.
ZoneAlarm pro on or not-not unistalled-
This is since few builts or one built, cannot say but it is an old problem back again,i run the 320 now

Please try this one:

Also, some firewalls are still active when they aren't supposed to be.  Uninstalling is the only cure in that case.

Do you use a proxy server?

Nevermind,

Turned out that I stuffed too many CDs into the thing at one time (3 CD drives on my system), needed to re-establish my CDDB profile (why should they care who I am if I am not submitting track info?) and MJ just choked on that proccess.
Did the "disable autoplay reg hack", now nothing happens till I tell it to. I still think there ought to be a better way to do this in W2K like in W98.

Appologies,

Appologies from me as well..For posting problem when not running the last built-But update from inside MJ tell me 'no update'.Sure you will 'plug 333' on monday

So 333 running now-still ZoneAlarm.Tested around 30 cds and it works fine

Just read the many prompt replies!
No I don't have ZoneAlarm reinstalled yet but thanks for the reminder.
After I reestablished the CDDB profile, taught MJ how to be patient with the "disable autoplay reg hack",  and learned some patience of my own, things are working much better now.

Thanks,

Sounds Like A Bug To Me If MJ Crashes And Does Not Trap The Error.

John,
Be aware that one of your associates confirmed that the CDDB problem was an MJ bug that he said would be fixed in the next build.

Dave

I don't remember hearing that from J river.

I just Use The Software, I don't make it.

But it should be trap-able

I might be mistaken as far as which CDDB problem it was.
The problem I am refering to is the thread CDDB Server can't be found (82fa0008).
My apologies.

I think that is a system problem.

At least for me on 3 computers it works fine.
