Problems with Conversion Cache
« on: March 23, 2009, 06:29:55 am »

Hey everyone.

I have a 10000+ track FLAC library. I attempted to sync with my IPOD Classic but the conversion would fail everyone 10-15 mins with a memory error. I decided to stop the whole process and then just attempt to build the conversion cache since I believed that was the route of the problem. Sure enough, MC13 would crash every so often with a memory error. I persisted with smaller chunks of files until I got about 5000 files converted.

I then decided to uninstall MC13 and start from a fresh with a clean installation - obviously retaining my library. I completely deleted the folder containing the converted MP3 files. Note that the normal location containing Temp files is different from the location of the MP3 stack (conversion cache).

Now, when I attempt to build the conversion cache, MC13 seems to believe the first 5000 files have already been converted - even though I completely cleaned out the folder structure where they were. When it starts conversion, the file count literally speeds through the first 5000 or so files that it appears to be believe have already been converted.

I assume there is some other record of converted files that is causing this to happen. Can someone please explain how to remove all evidence of the previous conversion cache so I can attempt to build it from the start. Then I can see if the memory problem has gone away.

Regards,

Ash

What version of MC are you using?  And are you using the FLAC encoder included with it?

Any ideas on what could be causing the Cache problem?

Kind regards,

Ash

So the converted files are gone?  Deleted in program or in windows explorer?

Does MC still think it has an MP3 stacked with the original Flac file?

Yes sir. The files were removed through Windows Explorer. However, the 'build cache' process acts like they still physically exist - which they do not.

Since I have uninstalled and re-installed, I am now at an impasse.
