2. Fixed: Switching the display window from full screen mode to internal mode was not working correctly.
3. Fixed: Dropdown menus in the main menubar would not hide when clicked second time.
4. NEW: Added /Clear parameter to the command line interface.
5. Fixed: If all items were removed from playing now, player window was not updating.
6. Fixed: Sending files to playing now using Send to menu with shuffle on would not reshuffle new files.
7. Changed: Pressing Shuffle button would not reshuffle files, just switch modes.

Nikolay - Shuffle behavior is now consistent from the Send to menu but not really what I'm looking for. From "Send to" (or anywhere else for that matter) the songs being added to PN should be shuffled before being added if shuffle is on or added in order if shuffle is off.

If I hit a playlist and right click and select Play it seems to work fine (i.e. with shuffle on / off etc.) but if I use the Send to menu it doesn't shuffle.

Maybe this is a bigger deal to code than I think it is and it is best to wait until v9?

Anyway, it is consistent now and that is better than before. Thanks for taking the time with this.

7. Changed: Pressing Shuffle button would not reshuffle files, just switch modes.
Thankyou - perfect!

6. Fixed: Sending files to playing now using Send to menu with shuffle on would not reshuffle new files.
As Gatobrit says - you might want to check this - it didn't seem to be shuffling from the Send to menu - whether shuffle on or not.

As Gatobrit also says it is consistent now,  better than before, back to the old way. Big Thanks.
It is as Scronch described it - a little unexpected but more useful and more sensible, once grasped, this way.

Now, I hope the Newbies grok it well.
Perhaps the Help explanations should be upgraded or made more prominent or something.

Hi,

it seems that only a few people do have problems with toolbars background (without skins). But since this problem exists for many builds (~ 8.0.28x) I wonder why you can not fix it. I know that you can't reproduce it, but maybe there is more than one possibility to fill backgrounds (I don't know)?

As this is the only problem for me since weeks :) I looked through the forum. Maybe this will help to fix this 'bug'. The problem is mention in
- MJ 8.0.293 - Toolbar display bug
- Media Jukebox 8.0.291 available
- Media Jukebox 8.0.290

I count three people (including me) having this problem: LCtheDJ, Easyrider and me (is anyone else out there who hasn't post this problem up to now?). But as all do have different systems (and it has worked for us before) we need more information. If you have this 'bug' please post some information.

For the programmers: Maybe you introduced some code in 8.0.270 (15. Fixed: In Media Editor and CD Labeler, toolbar would not paint correctly after hiding and showing again) to prevent all toolbars being painted wrong (only an idea)?

This will be my last trial to help fixing this problem. As it seems that only three people do have this bug, it doesn't affect essential functions and you can not reproduce it ... doesn't seem to make sense anymore.

Bye,

Hey, I never even noticed, but I got that toolbar painting anomaly too.
The backgrounds to toolbars sort of don't paint until you run the mouse over them.
Only happens with skins disabled.  Doesn't seem to affect any other aspects of MJ performance. Haven't checked the video drivers.

Gatobrit -

With Shuffle on, when I right-click on a Smartlist, Send To > Playing Now - Add (to end), the songs in the Smartlist are shuffled enroute to PN.

When I use Send To > Playing Now - Add (as next to play), the songs in the Smartlist are not shuffled enroute to PN.

I get the same behavior with a highlighted group of songs, rather than a Smartlist.

I agree that this isn't a big deal at this point.  Typically, I will only use "as next to play" with one song, or maybe a few songs at most.

JRiver gurus - Thanks for working on Shuffle!

Quick Search -- 8.0.331 is still doing this.  No big deal, just thought you'd like to know.

Clear Playing Now.
Highlight a smartlist, Add to Playing Now.
Click on Edit menu--Quick Search is grayed out, even though I am in Playing Now.
In the Playing Now window, click on any song, even the one that is already highlighted. Now in the Edit menu, Quick Search is available.

I think this is some sort of window focus thing.

Maybe that's not a bug?  I was just thinking that when I right-click on the smartlist, I am in the Organization Tree, not the Content Pane, so then Quick Search wouldn't be active.  Yes?  What about some sort of window focus indicator (highlight border or something) to indicate where the focus is?  Maybe this acts differently on XP rather than 2k.

2. Fixed: Switching the display window from full screen mode to internal mode was not working correctly.

Thank you, thank you thank you!!! Finally, I can start following the exciting process again :)

Btw, I don't know if I bother about the car naming...I'd rather depend on my ol' (like 3 weeks old) Crescent Balder. She's gonna take me about 80-90 kilometers today and tomorrow. Biking from Malmo to a small town called Beddinge in Sweden...the worst part is not the distance (I'm NOT a pro biker, I have the worst condition), it's just that I'm doing this out of restlessness :)) Longest distance I've used a bicycle is 30 kilometers...so this is gonna be interesting! Hopefully I return to this forum again...
Btw...it's going to rain today...

Again, thanks!!!

Hm....too much caffeine I believe...
Firstly, this was the quote I wanted:
1. Fixed: Playing Now would not jump to the currently playing track if the list was sorted.

Secondly, it works to a degree...try clicking "previous track"...:(
But...it's a start!

Cheers!

If I right click on a folder in Windows Explorer that contains MP3 files and select Media Jukebox | Play, MJ 8.0.331 crashes.  This only happens if MJ isn't running already. If it is running it works properly.

I can supply any machine / version info or the dump info if no one else can reproduce this.

Cheers,

I mentioned in the 327 thread that there were problems with the rename files from properties tool.  Namely, that MJ would report the renaming as unsuccessful yet a refresh showed the files had been renamed.

Current version has added a new wrinkle to this behaviour.  The right-hand pane shows the files as being renamed but a quick check in Explorer shows the original files have not changed.  Specifically, because the convert file only offers the option of renaming files in the output folder using the Artist\Album convention I just convert the files to my music folder and then use the rename from properties dialog to move them into the Artist folder.  Used to work fine sometime prior to 327.

Converting files would be much quicker if MJ would allow the user to specify the directory rule for converting files.

Bug:
The fix for clicking on Menus (so they hide) in a few releases back has screwed up single clicking the first time on some menus.  I notice this all the time as a problem in Media File Properties.  If you point the mouse cursor on the Tools menu and pause for about half a second and then click to bring up the Tools menu, nothing happens....you have to click again.  I use this menu all the time and the two single clicks is driving me nutz.  It seems to only be noticeable on that one menu item (Tools)...don't know why.

I installed ASPI 4.71 before upgrading to MJ 8.0.331. MJ has been giving me a lot of ASPI errors;

It has been determined that there is a version mismatch in the ASPI software on youer system.
Some CD ripping and burning capabilities may be limited due to this.
Would you like to have ASPI automatically downloaded and installed?

If I choose Yes, it downloads about 550kb and then says

Failed to find required aspi471.zip at
c:\docume~1©hris\locals~1\temp\aspi drivers

I don't know if it's related to this, but I burnt my first compilation yesterday on my new LG GCC-4120B DVD/CD-R combo and it refused to play in my car CD player or my DVD player, both of which have happily played CD-R's from my HP burner.

Artist/Album/unassigned/unassigned.  Left-Dragging moves the currently selected file instead of selecting additional files.  Only happens in the unassigned folder, dragging to select works in the other Artist/Album folders.

I think I have the same issue that Peradon and others are describing. My drop-down menu buttons are colored white until I run the mouse over them and they turn (and stay) gray. This is with Win98SE and no skinning.

JimH has suggested updating my video drivers, and that might solve it, but since this is only happening with MJ and it's a minor issue, I'll probably not mess with my video drivers.

PS. I so dig the MJ visualizations. So many of them are just beautiful.

bug reports are for version 8.0.331, if you wish to submit bug reports for the current version you must upgrade MJ to the current version.

Build 330
The problem of the playing now window always restarting from track sequence 1 has not been completely solved. It still starts from seq 1 at startup (if PN is the startup page). Subsequent returns to PN show correctly.
It's minor, minor, minor.

Uh, haven't thought of so much people having this problem with wrong painted toolbar. Now there are seven. But the most important thing is to find out WHY and HOW it can be reproduced by the programmers to fix it.

So please post your system info and maybe some additional information which could help solving this problem.

Btw an update of display drivers don't help for me (neither the newest nor the oldest drivers). Also an update to DirectX 8.1 and (yesterday) 8.1b didn't help.

RE:Media Jukebox 8.0.331 - ASPI ERROR.
« Reply #27 on: July 19, 2002, 03:13:24 am »

Hi all,

Since installing 8.0.331 I keep getting an ASPI error about a mismatch of the ASPI components.

MJ asks if I want it to download the latest, but when I say yes it displays a message that the file is currently open and then tells me to reboot.

Once I've rebooted and run MJ it says again I have an ASPI mismatch.

Both of my PC's are doing this since the 8.0.331 upgrade.

I'm running Windows XP Professional.

Any thoughts ?

About the aspi-errors: I had several problems with newest version (4.71), not with mj but with burner programs. So I surfed through some forums and voila: 4.71 seems to make a lot of problems so I decided to downgrade back to 4.60 and everything is ok (I don't know if 4.70 is ok - 4.60 just works fine so I stay with it).

You only have to delete 'aspi32.sys', 'winaspi.dll', 'wnaspi32.dll' and 'wowpost.exe' in your system-, system32- or system32\drivers-directory. Then you can install an older version without any problems.

Hope this helps and doesn't make any additional problems.
