Really useful MC Library Servers
« on: August 03, 2009, 06:55:09 am »

Hi,

I've been experimenting with the MC Library Server protocol.  V Useful.
Can I rely on the "m01p://" protocol identifier remaining constant? Or is there likely to be a "m02p://"?
m01p:// appears to be http:// v1.1.  Can I rely on this too?

Have you considered spliting the MC scanning engine and Library Server away from the GUI to produce a headless Library Server?  I'd find this really useful.

I could run "headless" MC on my Windows Home Server Nas, to index my music, and then use full-on MC on my laptop.  (As it stands, I don't think my Nas will take the weight of the GUI).

If you minimize MC, Library Server will continue to run, but with much smaller memory usage.

The change you're asking for is not planned.
