Happy Thanksgiving!
« on: November 25, 2009, 05:59:34 pm »

I wish everyone who celebrates it a very happy Thanksgiving!  For those who don't, I'm sorry.  It's a feast in the U.S.  Canada does it a week earlier, I think.

Tomorrow at 4:00 PM, we'll have the meal at our house.  A couple of guys I have lunch with on Saturdays will be there.  My wife's son and his girl friend from Peru, and one of my daughters.  Two kids missing, who will therefore not get Xmas presents.

Pre-dinner
Cheese, pears, crackers, and grapes

The dinner menu:

Turkey
Mashed potatoes
Sweet potatoes
Cranberry sauce
Green Beans
Carrots
Peas & onions
Stuffing
Pumpkin pie with whipped cream
Pecan pie
Corn bread
Dinner rolls

And a relish tray

We'll be ready to eat again on Saturday.

We're lucky.  I know.  I wish you a very nice day.

It's like the night before the Rose Bowl here already.

Happy U.S. Thanksgiving!

In Canada we celebrate Thanksgiving on the 2nd Sunday in October (October 11th this year)- we must take longer to do Christmas shopping!

I hope you all enjoy a wonderful family holiday.

In Canada it is actually the second Monday in October so we have long since worked the turkey off.

I worked in the US for a number of years and used to celebrate both. Love turkey.
While in the US also learned how to deep fry a turkey.
Not quite as nice as walking into a home where the smell of a turkey in the oven really gets you in the eating mood but deep frying is much faster.
I am now drooling over my keyboard just thinking about it. May not be able to wait for Xmas.

Happy thanksgiving to all who are celebrating.

As a calorie aware Aussie, that is truly disturbing...   :-X

Tho - having celebrated a Thanksgiving in the States a few years ago (my partner's family are in the U.S) - I did discover a taste for baked sweet potato with marshmallows on top.   ;D

I suppose once a year is not so bad...  Happy Thanksgiving!
