WORKAROUND - TS Causes MC to crash
« on: February 07, 2010, 04:40:53 am »

I've got a laptop where MC crashes immediately when playing a DVB-T channel when TS is ON.  Works fine if TS is OFF.  I've attached the log file.
Thanks

Thanks to a tip from Richard - If MC crashes when trying to start TV with Timeshift on then try:
1) Install MC as ADMINISTRATOR and/or
2) Run MC (once) as ADMINISTRATOR

Seems to fix some permission issue - and after that it all works fine.

Thanks

I got caught again with this problem today too.... DUH!

Tried to run Live TV with Timeshifting on my laptop (never used TV on it before) and it kept crashing, after muckig about with filters for 30 minutes I remembered I'd had the same issue before (I'm a bit slow sometimes!)  http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=55432.0

Users should not have to jump through these hoops to get the basic MC functionality working, there must be something that can be done during the install to ensure MC actually installs correctly.

If I was checking out MC as a new user and had crashes doing basic TV playback I'd probably be off looking for a more stable alternative and would never get to see the real power underneath this great product.
