Build 15.0.7 introduces an improved reader that is used when playing videos from the internet or Library Server.

It does away with the problems of slow video startup or the inability to seek.  It also does a better job of read-ahead buffering.

For YouTube! playback from Theater View, you should notice that seeking works in v15 where it didn't in v14.

The same is true of MP4 / h.264 files over Library Server.

For DVD playback over the internet, you will have better luck playing the VOB files directly instead of trying to load the disc with a DVD navigator (which can't support the new reader).  We're going to continue to work on this area to see if we can improve it.

Thanks to Yaobing for this improvement.

mkv/ h264 too?

Any video.

In some cases, you'll need to make sure the correct filters get used.  For h.264, you need an MP4 splitter (I've had good luck with the one called 'MP4 Splitter') instead of an MP4 source filter.  The source filter does its own reading, which you don't want.

We hope to make the configuration of this more automatic with time.

What if the h264 video is not in an mp4 container? e.g. mkv.

Should be fine.  MC will automatically load the new URL Reader filter as source filter, DirectShow should load "Haali Media Splitter (AR)" as splitter.
