Windows 7 64 bit continual error
« on: August 08, 2010, 06:26:27 pm »

I often get the attached error when starting up or closing down my licensed Media Center 15.0.80.  I have tried re-installing to no avail.  I have also reinstalled the K-Lite codec pack.  Nothing seems to get rid of the message.

The following module has failed to load:
C:\Program Files (x86)\J River\Media Center 15\JRService.exe

It has reported the following error:
A JRiver Media Core component failed to load the product info file:
C:\Program Files (x86)\J River\Media Center 15\data\default resources\Options.xml

Please reinstall the latest version of the program.

Any help appreciated.

Further note - it appears to be related to creating thumbnails for movie files.

Actually I don't think the error is particularly to do with creating thumbnails, that simply invokes it.  I've added thumbnails to the offending items no problem manually.  Error still appears on startup.

Ok, further investigation.  I noticed that a number of my movie files hadn't imported (when ones in the same folder, same type etc had imported fine).  So I enabled shell integration and located a non-imported file in Windows Explorer, and tried a right-click > media center> import.  Up popped the error described above, and the status message below - but the file still does not appear in my media library :-(

Library now has 38564 files. Search and update took 0:07.

Imported 0 new files.
Updated 1 file that had external changes.

In-depth details:
Updated:
    V:\Videos\Series\IT Crowd\IT Crowd Season 1\103 - 50-50.avi

Someone please help...

If I try to open a non-imported movie using MC a slightly different message appears - same as the first one but with changed line highlighted:

The following module has failed to load:
C:\Windows\System32\MC15.exe

It has reported the following error:
A JRiver Media Core component failed to load the product info file:
C:\Program Files (x86)\J River\Media Center 15\data\default resources\Options.xml

Please reinstall the latest version of the program.

Ach, ran MC as Administrator and no errors, everything looks fine, importing running better and missing files appearing.

Could be something to do with the media all being stored on my Netgear ReadyNAS.  Have set that through a cycle of resetting file permissions.

Hopefully don't have to run MC as administrator every time.

Thanks to anyone who at least thought about this!

Search your computer for 'Options.xml' and erase the copy in your user folder.  It sounds like a third-party program was run that modified Media Center.

Thanks for your purchase.

I don't know, I tried Jukebox first and liked it a lot, nothing else seemed to be able to sync my music correctly with album art, or transcode to mp3, so then downloaded Center.  Anyway, hopefully that'll do the trick, thanks.

Thank you, that sorted it.  MC is brilliant, I love it.
