JRiver WebRemote Autoredirect Page Doesn't Work
« on: November 03, 2010, 06:41:41 pm »

So, I have the http://webremote.jriver.com/ address with my Library Server and my access key.  The page loads, of course, but the autoconnect reports "Failed to connect to server. Please double-check that the server is running properly" when I'm trying to connect to that page from both inside my network and outside my network.  However...

If I'm inside my network click on the link on that page that says "From inside the server's network use this link", that works fine.  If I'm outside my network and I click on the link that says "From outside the server's network use this link", that also works.  If these links work fine when used appropriately, why doesn't the autoconnect on http://webremote.jriver.com/ work?

Same goes for the WebPlay page, of course.  I have the port forwarded properly in my firewall.  That is obviously set up properly since the direct links work fine.  What can I do to get the autoredirect working?

why doesn't the autoconnect on http://webremote.jriver.com/ work?

We haven't figured out how to test a connection to a different domain using javascript.  It triggers a cross-domain security problem, and fails to connect.

If there are any javascript wizards around, we could use a hand.

Thanks.

I dont understand what ya guys are talking about in regards to auto connect, or what its purpose is, But are You willing to take help from users not in the forum/part of jriver?

I Have alot of smart pc tech/code/script friends i could talk to in pal talk, and from around the net.

Let me know And I'll run it by them.

We haven't figured out how to test a connection to a different domain using javascript.  It triggers a cross-domain security problem, and fails to connect.

What's the process on the page for, then, if it never succeeds?  And why does it effectively give me an error that something is broken or not running?  Is this something used only by the Library Server process itself if you use the Access Key to connect to the library?

If so, then the page should be re-worded to make this clear that your system isn't broken, just that you need to choose which type of connection you need when connecting via the web.  (Even more preferably, the test would be hidden or use a different page.)

Or is this a "we're planning to fix it but we haven't quite figured it out yet" type of thing?  If so... Cool.  It just confused me.
