Copying Date Modified to Date
« on: November 29, 2010, 07:48:29 am »

Wondering if someone can help me. I'm trying to correct the date metadata on my home videos so that it'll all sort properly. It seems that the Date Modified time stamp is correct and so I'm trying to Move/Copy fields from that to Date, but they must be formatted differently because doing so gives me weird numbers.

Here is an example:
Date Modified: 20/12/2008 00:25
Filename: 20081220002511 (I guess that the files have been named in the unformatted date with yyyymmdd then hour minute seconds)

Doing a straight copy of Date modified to Date gives me:
17/02/26369

I was able to get the year, month and day data right by entering a =mid([name],,) expression into those fields, but I couldn't see a way to get the time.

they are indeed different, modified, created and imported dates uses unix timestamps, date uses some "excel" standard..

but will an easy fix do it for you ? write =[date modified] in the date field

when you copy data with move/copy function you will get the "raw data"
