corrupted license
« on: June 13, 2002, 03:52:47 pm »

As you suggested I tried renaming buyb12.dll and buyb12ex.dll however I could not find them.  I then tried buybutton12 only to be dold once again that the file is in use. cannot continue. failed to restore license.  What next?

I did search both using find and visually inspecting the directory - they are not there

I'm coming in the middle of this, but lots of times Windows tries to hide stuff from you... can you check your explorer options to make sure it it showing everything?

Did you check both system and system32?

Perhaps you are running as a user without enough permissions?

The files have to have been installed when 7.2 was installed or it would not run.

For an install to work, or the patch to work, you have to have sufficient permissions to write to the windows folders.  This sounds like it isn't working.

I finally found the the 2 dlls and renamed them.  I then ran buybutton1.2 which downloaded a file and gave me the destination file in use cannot continue. followed by failed to install package.  When I tried to open mediajukebox the received failed to initialize registration control failed to install.  Now I cannot even open media jukebox.   I am still open to suggestions.

The short answer is "I don't know".  But some file is refusing to be over-written.  Take a look at the contents of the .mjp file that you downloaded when you tried to install the patch.  Here's what you will see.  The only thing I can imagine is that your system directory in Windows is not writeable.  Or maybe a temp file somewhere.  Try running IE/Tools/Internet Options/Delete Files to see if you can get rid of temp files.  Sometimes the temp folder gets filled beyond capacity.  It might take some time once you start, so just leave the machine for a while.

[Package]

Name=BuyButton 1.2
Action=UNZIPDIR
Version=1.0.1

[Action]
File1=*.*
File1Action1=COPY_SYSDIR

That did not solve the problem.  I did a search on *.mjp and found two references.  One on the desktop which is buybutton12 and the other one was in a windows temp directory and was named in_ape with a date of 5/4 which is about the time I downloaded the demo. Should I delete or rename the in_ape and rerun buybutton12 or will that make it worse.  I also received an email today suggesting I download version 8 - do you think that will solve the problem?  Should I uninstall the program and download a new version?

At this point, I just don't know.  Try a download of 8.0 and hope for the best.

Esta trapalhada toda não aconteceria se soubesse fazer as coisas logo ao principio e ainda por cima acusam a equipa que desenvolve o MJ sem eles terem culpa nenhuma...enfim
