How to fill the "CD information" dialog by keyboard?
« on: January 19, 2011, 07:08:26 am »

I'd like to fill the "CD information" dialog using just keyboard, but I can find no key to enter edit mode. The Windows standard F2 doesn't work.

Is is possible? Thanks.

You should be able to just click in the edit box and start typing.

Whereabouts are you talking about? Any chance of you posting a screen-shot?

In this state, F2 and TAB are ignored.

Interestingly, when the dialog first appears, TAB is active and once it takes the focus to the track list, it enters edit mode. But the first time I press RETURN, edit mode is departed and no key I can find will re-enter it.

I'm still not sure when you get this dialogue box, as I have not seen it (in my vast experience of 1 week!). I would hazard a guess that if you fill just the album title in, it will go into your collection. Then right-click the album from the AUDIO section and select "tag". That brings up a small box from which you click into to enter the manual track data.

Click "Compact Disc", click "Edit Disc Information"

When you rip, yes.

That leaves you without descriptive filenames.

I prefer using the recommended dialog, since this doesn't have that problem

Does anyone have an answer my question? Thanks.

Right - I have just loaded up a CD and that dialogue box comes up - as per the screenshot you posted. All I did was mouse click into each field and was able to enter/amend the info.

If you have an answer to the question, I'd be interested to hear it.

Chris - I thought I just did - don't you have use of a mouse?

Thanks but you didn't.

The question is about keyboard.

Chrisjj,

This seems like a bug.  Once the CD Information dialog gets into navigation mode (which can be done as you've noted, by hitting Enter at the last track entry), there is no way to re-enter edit mode with the keyboard.  All one can do is use the navigation keys to move around the track fields, or use the mouse to select a field or click one of the dialog buttons.

Perhaps the developers will address this in a future release.

The question is about keyboard.
Just press the <tab> - that'll take you to each field

I must be missing something ?

Click *outside* a text edit field, such that Edit mode goes away.  Then use an arrow key to move around the tracks.  You'll find that you cannot use Tab anymore to move from field to field.  Also, Escape will not dismiss the dialog, and F2 has no function.

If the bug list is public, can you point me to it?

There is no bug list or tracker system.  I've reported it to the developers.  They read these posts, so rest assured your issue has been seen.

Yes I see now. But you can get edit mode straight back by using the mouse again, if clicking within a field

Let's be clear: no mouse use is needed to get this problem.

1 Launch the app
2 Press ALT+T, R - the "CD Information" dialog appears
3 Press TAB until you reach the last track.

Now you're in the stuck state - TAB is ignored.

Another mystery is if you exit the dialog and try to call it up again with the same keypresses, it doesn't appear.
