Im trying to use my cell phone to control theater view. so far, ive used gmote, but i cannot use the keyboard on it, and there is no directional pad, so its not working too good.

I do not want to use a remote control, the computer i in another room, (i have a really long hdmi cable).

What can i do to use theater view with my android phone?
Have you tried Gizmo?  The last option on its menu is a simple 5 button remote control for Theater View.

WebRemote would also work.

Yes, but i can never get Gizmo to work at my home. i need to do port forwarding on my netgear, but i have no clue because when i change things it still never connects.

Also, Gizmo has no keyboard or mouse function. i would like to be able to type on the keyboard instead up moving around a grid of letters.

You shouldn't need to touch your router if you're using Gizmo on the same network.

A firewall could prevent it from working.

Making sure both are most current versions is the first step.
