Feature Request: iPhone dedicated controller app!!
« on: March 22, 2011, 02:20:35 pm »

I'm newbie user to this program,  but liked it very much. It's Excellent!!!

There is one issue I wanted to inquire about though:

Why don't you realease an APP for iPhone to Control it (I would pay $30, even $50 for it)??  I use PlugPlayer , and I like it, but there are many issues.

My wish list would be:
- Stable App, with robust connection.
- Some kind of "cache". So there would be no need to load the library every time I open it.
- Zone Control
- Playlist control and creation
- Smooth song transition
etc.....

Thanks again for such an Fantastic program.

Hi Jim,

I have used the Webremote. I do not know if you upgraded it recently,  but it is a little dificult to use it. For example, When searching for an Artist, there are no alphabetic divisions on artists (only numbers!!!). I have 2000 Artists, so it is slow to search for a specific artist.

A dedicated iPhone/Android App would be Great.

I am a Sonos user. I am slowly switching to MC because the Sound Quality (Win7/Wasapi/USB)  is much better. With a good conttoller, I would sell the Sonos right way. (Sorry for my English)

Thanks

Your English is fine.  Sell the Sonos and buy a Samsung Galaxy Tab or another Android device, then run Gizmo.

I have just bought an iPod Touch for the task.  I will wait for the J River proprietary iPhone app.

Thanks for the great program.

Do you recomend any Android tab around $150 price? Can be one with smaller display.

An Android phone would work, but at $150, I think you would need to find a used one.

Yes, Achos 32 will work. I saw it at Amazon, and there are good reviews. I will buy it.

Thanks

There is a app for iPhone. What was the name... Rivermote by Melloware I think. If my memory serves well, there was a limitation however. Gizmo for Android might be a better alternative.

I'll let you be the guinea pig ;)

My only concern is from the cnet review:

"Archos uses its own app store instead of the official Google Marketplace."

The question is gizmo available in the Archos app store.

Looks like Gizmo is not available:

But JRiver should be able to add it:

It's not, but it's very easy to add Google Market to the Archos devices. I run Gizmo on my Archos 10.1.

I bought the 10.1 for my wife, and she really likes it. Archosfans.com helped me get the most out of the device.

I will go with the Archos 32 (or 43) mainly to use with Gizmo.
Also I will give a try at Android Larger Pads.  I am Curious about the 101 ($350). Also there is also  the Superpad 10.2 for $200 at Amazon.
I do not know how the two devices compare.

Just for info:
HOW TO INSTALL ANDROID MARKET to ARCHOS 101:
You need to follow easy 2 steps to install the apps to Archos 101.

Step 1: The tablet comes with pre-installed Archos market app. First You need to use it and download Archtools application from the Archos market (you can do this without sign up to Archos Market). Then by using Archtools app, you can download application packages (in total 2) provided by Archos that includes flash player, google maps, gmail, android market and other useful programs.

Step 2: After android market app is installed to your device - you can use android market (you probably know that you need a gmail account to use it) to have an access to unlimited number of application available to you. Please note that there are different android markets exist and availability of an app may change from one to another.
