How may I set a View rule for file display such that the only displayed files are ones which have a tag field "usercustom1" equal to a particular literal value. I tried Custom: [usercustom1]=myvalue - no joy.

In the tree view, right-click the view you want the change made to and click Customize View. In the middle of the new window click "Set rules for file display" In the new window, under rules there should be 3 empty drop down boxes in a row. If not press the "Add New Rule" button. Starting from the left set the first box to the tag name, the second to "is" and the third to the value you want show. It should look like:

usercustom1 is myvalue

I get only two boxes in each row.

It won't accept my tag (field) name - just the names on the drop-down list.

Tag named "Tags" is any "[Basic]"

If it's a custom tag then you must first create it. Options > Library & Folders > Manage Library Fields... > Add New Field
