I have a very large library that over time I've been backing up onto external drives (Hitachis) using the 'Rename, move and copy' function, or so I thought. My folder structure is Artist\album\track number\name. During backup operations, a progress bar appears, the program notified me if I was copying a duplicate, it took an appropriate amount of time to copy and to all appearances, everything was proceeding normally.
I opened one of the backups using Windows explorer and unhappily found (a) that few of the many files I'd copied appeared in the drive - in most cases, only 1 of the many tracks in an album had been copied, even though there was a folder for the album itself; and (b) in a number of cases, my original folder structure wasn't preserved at all.
Many of the original files also are located on external drives. All drives are USB 2.0 connected and the computer reads each of them.
Here is system info. I'd appreciate some input on this, as an important function seems to be crippled and I'm left to copy through Windows explorer, with all the issues that poses.
Thanks.
