Install of Upgrade Results in Media Center Not Responding [solved]

Please help! I was happily using Media Center 15 on a Vista PC until today when I tried to upgrade to the final version, 15.0.174. Something happened during the install, meaning that after I had completed it, clicked finish and opened Media Center, I was left with a black rectangle followed a few minutes later with the message Media Center is not responding. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times. I then tried downloading and installing the latest 16 version with exactly the same results. Other measures I have taken include turning off the anti-virus software, downloading via IE instead of Firefox and trying a System Restore point two days ago. In addition I have tried installing from an external hard drive and deleting the J River files from my Program Files. I have now run out of ideas. Can anybody help?

May be a Windows UAC problem.

Problem solved. It didn't seem to like Media Center opening when installation was complete. If I unchecked that box everything worked OK.
