Disable any special downloader you may use.

Thank you V.M.
sorry but does not work. I was forced to return to version 105 losing a lot of features. the thing that worries me is that I do not know which is the component that MC is trying to add and this makes the troubleshooting rather difficult.

as of current version .111

i am still having issues downloading addition components. it starts downloading and then stops mid way.
something new i just noticed today---
if i try to play a video file, i see MC trying to download addition components in 2 windows. it's downloading it twice at the same time. but they never finish and mc says fail to download.

I just did a fresh install on my system. nothing is on it accept all the windows updates.
no anti virus, no nothing. just windows xp pro and mc .111 (just fyi- it does it to all computer)

What type of Internet connection do you have?

How fast can you download a Media Center build (~20 MB) using IE on your machine?

Thanks.

My dsl connection is a 1.31meg connection. (that's all they offer here)

but typically about 3 minutes to download a MC build

And do downloads from our server work with IE reliably?

Could you use Help > Logging to send me a log after it fails to download.  I'm matt at jriver dot com.

Thanks.

as you can see on my 3d (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=64695.0), the same on my installation (xp sp3); download stopped and continuously ctrying to download again.

I forced to go back to the .105.

Thanks, Gianni.

last night, i did something a little different.
Doing a new library, i would import Z:\- Master Files\ which would import all Video and Music.
Here is what i see when I watch MC import files. Imports audio no problem.
Once it hits the Video directory and adds video, MC then tries to download Addition Components.
Which then of course the problem starts. Stops downloading mid-way. Then I had a A-Ha moment.
I changed the Auto Import folder to just one specific video folder holding only 10 video files.
i hit auto import. As MC is adding video, it tries again to download addition components. but still fails.
But...... Once MC finished importing those 10 files, problem went away. Downloads Complete!!
I did this 3 times to make sure of this.
So at this point i went on to make a new library with all my files and everything went fine.
I can now play using Red October. And what a great addition.

My conclusion and hopefully solves this problem, Auto Import was disrupting the initial download when trying to add new Video in the back-round before the download completes.

Thanks to the detail in this post, we found and fixed a flaw in our logic.  You were essentially correct in your thinking.  Thank you.  Expect a fix in build 113.
