Show only one particular folder in a new Library View
« on: June 27, 2011, 08:19:52 am »

Hi,
I recently made a fresh install of my PC and forgot to save my MC 15 settings.

I am trying now to set up a new library view, where I show only one folder (the "New" files, which I havenīt sorted yet).

Unfortunately, I cant manage that anymore, I dont understand. I know it is possible, but I dont find a way to restrict the new library view to show the files of one folder on my laptop only.

Anyone an idea? Thank you.

Just clear your library (backup first), then reinstall.  This time, choose the option to use your MC15 settings.

or

MC makes automated backups (File/Library ..).  You can restore an MC15 backup in MC16.

MC15 settings donīt exist anymore, I made a clean install of my Win7 as I upgraded the hard disc to a bigger one. I now also upgraded from MC15 to MC16.

I know there is a way to add an additional view in the Library View, which is restricted to a certain folder on my system.
At least in MC 15 and 14 I could do so.

Found it. The solution is:

1) in "Audio", right click on "Add Library View"
2) Choose "Disc Location"
3) In the view, there is a column with you your folder tree: select the tree, which content you want to show only
4) Collapse the column with the tree view to hide it
done

Unfortunately upon the next click on the new library view, again, all audio content is shown. not only the content of the previously chosen subfolder
So that was not the solution   :(

  • Right click on the view in the tree
  • Select "Customise view"
  • Click where it says "Set rules for file display"
  • Click on the "Import / Export" button
  • Add in there: [filename]="unique part of folder path"
  • Press OK three times to return to your view
  • Job Done

I think the solution you're looking for is this.

In your new library view, Select "Customize view"
Add new Rule
Select "Filename (Path) > Contains > x:\path to directory is "the "New" files, which I havenīt sorted yet"

Good luck
