No.

The DVD-Rom is OK, the CD-RW is the problematic one,

And this is this:

I can't think of any reason that the eject would be occurring in MJ. The only two places MJ does an eject are following a CD rip or burn process. A remote possibility would be if you have a mismatched version of the MJ executable and either the rip or burn controls (cdripper.ocx, cdwriter.ocx). However, it sounds like you did a fresh install so that shouldn't be the case.
I'll keep thinking...

My drives will auto eject any CD it can't read whether an application is trying to access it or not.  Usually it's because I accidentally put a blank CD in the read-only drive or I put the CD in upside down, but I did have a drive once that just ejected every CD I put into it.  It turns out that the power connector wasn't seated correctly.

Try loading the CD with MJ not running and see if the drive spits it out.
Does the drive even spin up?
Also try loading a data CD and see if you can read it from Windows directly.
If these work, try opening another audio program and see if it can play the CD.

Well I use this CD all the time.

I've installed XP with it, I've installed Office with it, I've even ripped audio CD with it.

But!

When I putt a CD that hasn't been read by the DVD-Rom and downloaded info from CDDB, It just "Analizing

devices...", And "Gathering info and ect.", And Then...

Spits the disc out.

It's frustrating a little.

It Is A Program That Is On A Chip In Your Drive That Can Be Updated By Running A Software Update you Get From The Drive Maker.

Seems to me that exist some kind of conflict between those two drives. Dive into the machine and check if they are set up master, slave. If is posible, just give a ide controller slot for each drive. Happy jorney.

Check it anyways. Sometimes they are in cable select. You should set it up master/slave and besides that some drives dont like their assigned roll and behave strange. Just change it and re-test.

Though your problem may be different, Turbo is right about this.  I had a CD drive that wouldn't work once until I switched ID channels.  Also, the master/slave setting on the drive has to be set right according to where the drive is on the cable.

A google search might find you some sites that are helpful on this.

Agreed since also some systems do not understand what cable select is, this also could depend on OS and system bios if it will interface with it corectly.

I did have this system get confused on the cable select setting, but worked fine in master\slave

but it did not have an effect on eject however.

Maybe something else running? like real Jukebox or MusicMatch, Easy CD Creator, etc...

Hi Oogi,

There's no difference in the cable positions for an IDE drive, either position can be master or slave. There are some small jumpers on the back of the drive which tell the drive whether it's a master or a slave and there's usually a diagram printed on the drive to show you how to set them. You cannot have two drives as master or two drives as slave, only one of each.

I have a Plextor drive and they recommend that the CD-RW be set as a master (and that's how it's shipped). They also recommend that it doesn't share an IDE channel with another drive but I've no idea if that would cause your problem. Perhaps you could disconnect your DVD from the IDE cable and see what happens.

Good luck !!

Uri,
I missed your comments from a couple days ago.  Just thanks.  We're glad to have someone else from Israel here.  We think a lot about your part of the world.  It's been nice to hear from Zevele how life is there.

I'm having the same problem with my Phillips 24x ide burner.  I do not have this problem in any other application, only in Media Jukebox.  It's just annoying, as I can simply close the tray and it will continue on it's way.  The fact that MJ completely crashes my system every so often, is not nearly as forgivable!  I shall try to install version .291 today. (I am currently using .289)

Maybe there's an issue between MJ and Phillips, as I that's the drive you have, no?

I've got exactly the same problem but not with all CD's, about one out of two. Insert a music CD, click on the CD in MJ tree, get a message that says: "Gathering information and updating view...", and then the CD just ejects.

I'me using a Philips 16x CD-R/W drive. There seems to be connection there. I just installed 8.0.356 last week which is still the latest version downloadable.

Only CD device in my system. No DVD. I've had this drive for 6 months and no problem what so ever. I don't think this is Hardware/firmware/cabling/master/slave or anthing like that. Keep your PC cover closed for this. I think ddrummer is right, there's an issue between MJ and Philips.

Anyone from JRiver out there?

WimA-

This is a difficult one to pinpoint without putting some specific debugging information into MJ. When version 9 becomes more stable, I could work with you on finding the source of this problem (assuming it's not a driver issue).

Thanks,
