LICENSE DETAILS
« on: May 28, 2002, 11:45:28 am »

We're adding to our FAQ the following information.

(FAQ's are here: http://www.musicex.com/mediajukebox/buy_faq.html )

[Version 7 FAQ]

"I can't restore my license.  It doesn't work."

RRG Licenses (version 5 to 7)
Version 5 works with a license called MP3encoder.rrg
Version 6 works with a license called MediaJukebox6.rrg
Version 7 works with a license called MediaJukebox7.rrg and also will work with MediaJukebo6.rrg
All licenses above can be restored in MediaJukebox under Help/Restore.  If this choice has been "grayed out", you do not need to restore.
All licenses above cannot be replaced by JRiver.  If you have lost the RRG file, you can re-purchase.

[Version 8 FAQ]

"I need to restore my license." or "I lost my license."

Registration Code Licenses (began with version 8)
Version 8 works with the newer form of license, called a Registration Code.  This is a 30 character string and you will have received it in e-mail from buy-button @ jriver.com together with instructions.

A restore page is available at:
https://rover.jriver.com/cgi-bin/restore.cgi  If you have preserved your Registration Code you can restore your license indefinitely.  You can also recover if you have your orginal e-mail and password.  No other replacement of licenses is available.

Indefinitely, meaning without any end.  Not unlimited.  Still 6/yr.

Hey, we want people to be happy.  Honest.  We just can't make it happen.  Maybe version 10.

JimH - are you going to reset the restore counts to zero since you are going to officially release 8.0? I think you mentioned this as a possibility earlier in the license discussion thread/s.

The reason I ask is that I converted my v.8 rrg file to the new license scheme this morning (per the recent build changes) and I figure I used two of my 6 lives (to set up MJ on my desktop and laptop).

I don't think this will be a problem but I would like to know where I stand.

Gatobrit,
You will have six lives again (per year) when we release.

Does the year start on January 1? Or on July 1? Whenever it starts, does that mean 6 downloads until it starts again? Or is it prorated? Do we get an extra download for a leap year? How about a total eclipse? Partial eclipse? Lunar or Solar? Cometary years? Dog years?
What if I restore but I didn't mean it? Do I get a "Mulligan"? Can we BUY "Mulligans"? How about a few "practice restores"? If we change our user name, can we get an extra 6 for that year? What if a user is just plain, bone-deep ignorant? Can he/she get extras? Kind of a consolation? How about a few extras for 10-year increment birthdays? Anniversaries? European vacations? No, that would be a penalty. Lose 2 installs for going to Minsk. Can we sell OUR restores to someone else? These things could be like MJ currency. Can a person get a cramp in their tongue from having it in their cheek too long?
All is cool. All is groovy.

KingS,
Straight to the point, as usual. All of the other stuff was built around that observation. I had been reading various posts about "what if" this and "what if" that and I was reminded of the AT&T commercial with Paul Reiser in it. He would say what the rate for long distance was ... anytime, anywhere ... and people would say "what if" this and "what if" that.
The rest just kind of flowed out.
And you CAN buy "mulligans"... $24.98 for 6 of those babies. Good deal.

Apologies should I be seeming rather pedantic, but I need some fog cleared outta my head:

Am I able to use my MediaJukebox7.rrg file to do an ab initio install/license restore of MJ 8.0?

Cheers

Again ,you have to plug your ADSL moden ONLY to your computer....
And do not start to ask "what if"....i do not plug my moden ONLY to my computer,or more than 6 times a year ,i do not plug my moden ONLY to my computer and so on
You last posts are the answer...................

Wish you good time with your ADSL

But i still have a question
WHAT IF i buy MJ8 on 29 th of February? I will got 6 restores for one year AND one day,or one year LESS one day
As you may understand it is of great importance to me

Z:

Free version. This problem has appeared since the conversion from Music01 back to Media Server. On the other hand, the stream has been much more stable (when I'm able to connect). ZA says all the right things about passlock, etc., no sign that the port is being blocked.

It works OK if I disable ZA before I go to work, but I have this vision of cretinous dwarves lurking in the shadows, ready to commit crimes against nature on the computer if left unguarded for any length of time.

ZoneAlarm is the bee's knees. I read somewhere in this forum that Zevele was buying JRiver and inserting spyware into the program. You'll be glad to have ZA then.
