MC16 installed on ViA C3 800mhz computer?
« on: August 11, 2011, 08:21:43 pm »

I setup a new file server out of old parts, and i would absolutely love to run mc16 on it so i can use the media network features (any computer that has mc16 installed can stream the library over the net).

i downloaded and installed the latest version of media jukebox 14, and it works great.  but i get an error during install when i try mc16

this is the text file it dumps-

Looks like that is version .128.  Try the one at the top of this board.

I'm not sure what the text is you posted.

Maybe you could post a screenshot of what the error looks like?

But since this isn't a common problem, you may have a computer issue.  You could extract the build manually with the standalone 7z, and try to run it by hand.

My personal attempt at running Via parts many years ago ended in failure when the CPU didn't have the power to decode a DVD, and other programs crashed randomly due to instruction errors.

its probably my computer then.  i was just wondering if you guys knew of any incompatibilities with via chips.  i know skype doesnt like it either... well it runs but as soon as the program opens it throws a windows error like jrmc16 does upon install.   for skype though i just shove the error window out of the way and as long as i dont close that error window, skype runs fine.

ill try the manual install

btw, all i want is to share my library across the internet.  this via box i built runs on hampster power, so it stays on 24/7 and ideally the jrmedia network is based there.   i pull my dvd's and videos straight from the nas, so all i want the jr software for is the music sharing libraries.
