Thursday The Sauerbraten Should be done marinating, so that's what is for dinner

I asked my mom who is part German (Her maiden name was hockenberry) she was born in the Pennsylvania dutch area.

I talked to her and asked how my dad was (he can't walk, and has physical therapy twice a day, and is living in a rest home)

her mom cooked Sauerbraten all the time, but her mom used pork because it was a cheaper cut of meat, mostly she remembers this from after the great depression of 1929. When she got married to my dad he did not like it so she only made it a few times, and I do not remember what it tasted like.

each day I have turned the beef (chuck steak) to make sure it is covered and put the vegetables back on top to hold the meat down.

Well see what happens in a few days.

Today We Had The Sauerbraten

I Liked It.

I was going to make some Spaetzle but i had to take Sue to the Dr. so I just served it up, she said she thinks it needed some noodles.

But i think if you like Pork and sauerkraut you should like this dish.

The gravy was made out of 2 cups of the Sauerbraten marinade liquid, butter, and flour
