Automatic Zones
« on: November 22, 2011, 07:18:28 pm »

I have a Popcorn Hour C-200 and a Denon AVR-4310CI on the network. Both these devices show up automatically as zones in Media Center (16 and 17).

I tried to delete the Popcorn Hour zone but MC won't let me.  Is there a way to hide or mask the Popcorn zone?  I don't need it or want to use it.  I'd prefer not ot see it.  And, there does not appear to be a way to disable the DLNA service on the Popcorn Hour itself...

Thanks,

You should be able to hide a zone by right-clicking it in the tree.

Try right click and hide.

OK, I give up. Where in the tree?  Under Playing Now, I see my zones. There, if I right-click on the PCH-C200, I can rename it, Link it, do other things, but can't delete it and no option to hide it...

You can't delete them; auto-zones have Delete greyed out.  The Hide function is available for a Library, not zones.

OK, so could I make a request that a feature be added in the future to prevent a DLNA device from showing up in the list of zones?  Call it Hide or whatever but have the ability to not list all devices automatically...

Thanks

Sorry about the crossed-wires.

Instead, disable:
Options > Media Network > Advanced > DLNA Controller (control other DLNA devices)

That doesn't help. That disables ALL DLNA Controller devices. I simply want to HIDE/not control one particular device. I still need to control my Denon receiver...

Are you able to disable dlna on the unwanted device ?
All dlna contenders announce themselves on the network and Mc shows what it hears on the Lan.

No, the Popcorn Hour C-200 does not appear to have any options to disable announcing itself. That was one of my first checks...

You can probably use your firewall to block relevant traffic from the Popcorn device to the MC machine.

Yes, there are probably a number of odd ways that I could achieve what MC should simply allow me to do. If MC will automatically list all DLNA Controllers as Zones, there should be a simple way to disable/hide a controller.

Thanks
