Syncing libraries on different computers....
« on: December 13, 2011, 10:03:03 am »

I have no File/Library/sync capability. That thread does not exist. It's not there. I have MJ 14 on a computer in my home office (separate bldg) and a computer in the house. Each has it's own external drive that contains the same files (mp3 audio only) The computers are networked. One of the drives is a "network drive", accessible to all my computers (laptop, wifes and dedicated autocad in addition to the other 2). The other drive is not a "network drive" and is only accessible when that computer is on.

I want to be able to "sync" ratings, date created/imported, last played and maybe other data between the 2 systems to keep them and me happy! One problem is 2 sets of files, not just 2 libraries.

Any HELP out there?

...and how would that work? I am not going to buy the software just to see what it can do.

Might be worth reading up on:

I imagine it is difficult for anyone to give you the Yes/No answer, since it depends on your exact needs and what limitations are acceptable.

So, it is probably going to take some dialog back and forth, and you jumping in the waters to learn about how it all works...

For what it's worth I use Skydrive right now to keep my desktop and laptop in sync. Seems to work ok as far as I can tell, unless you'd rather have just one copy of the songs.

EDIT Skydrive in conjunction with Windows Live Mesh.

OK An answer to this question could allow me to solve my own problem.....

If I copy the files from the ext. drive on computer to a "server" drive, (in order to allow an easier syncing situation) how do I keep the "date created" info from changing? That is data I am trying to keep for file and historical purposes.
