Files "previously determined to be bad", how do I find and fix?
« on: January 01, 2012, 02:25:07 pm »

I've been using MC16 for over a year and now for the first time I'm getting a message there are "bad" files in my library.  MC16 thinks there are 130 bad files.  I don't know why it thinks this.  I have no reason to believe any of the files are bad.  With a lot of work I've managed to find about half of them.  Auto import does not identify the bad files.

Is there a way to reset MC16 and thereby allow me to import the files and find out if they are in fact bad?

If I copy over the bad files with a good version from my backup will that solve the problem?

If I delete the library and reinstall it will that solve the problem?

The bad files I have identified so far are all FLAC.

This has been covered a few times recently. Here is a synopsis on how to identify the 'bad' files.

Add a Smartlist by pressing (F9)
Click Import / Export
Type or copy in this expression in the window. It will show you the files JRiver considers bad:

[Media Type]=[Audio] ~d=b

Or copy this express and it will also show you tracks that have been deleted from the library (but still exist in the music folder)

[Media Type]=[Audio] ~d=br

Good luck.
