Excited to try QAM, but after scanning for channels and mapping XMLTV programming, all channels and programs are lost the next time I open MC.

First off, when I tried to play live tv, I got a time out error saying it couldn't find... or the device was faulty.  I figured maybe MediaPortal was tying up the TV card, so I exited MC and tried to stop all the MediaPortal services.  I opened MC again and all the QAM channels were gone.  I scanned again and looked for someplace to "save", but again lost all scanned channels when closing MC.

Please advise on saving channels and programming if you can.  Thanks.

Are you using Library Server?

That is the behavior.

We will try making it behave better on client.  But for now, it is best to put TV tuners on the server or an independent station.

OK.  I'm now running on separate PC.  I have my QAM channels scanned and programs setup (XMLTV).  When I click "watch", MC gives the following error after some "waiting"....

"Timeout waiting for writer to start.
possible: no signal or faulty device"

Can someone help me troubleshoot?

Does it happen to every scanned channel or just a few of them?

Most of the channels I got do play, but a few do not.  I am assuming those do not play have something to do with cable company's limitation, such as they are scrambled, or they are not part of my service package.

If that proves to be wrong, I will obviously have to figure out why they do not play.  Are you able to verify that the channels you tried to play are in the "clear"?

Yes, these are clear QAM channels that I've been viewing in San Diego for for some time now (with both WinTV and MediaPortal).  There are 8 channels and I believe I've tried them all.  What I find odd is if I go to "TV Options" + "Edit Channels"... there is no data listed for any of the channels (e.g. frequency).  I thought I might compare the MC frequency to that in MediaPortal, but there's nothing listed.

That reminds me that Edit Channel List needs some fixing for the new tuner types we are trying to support.

I know you said you stopped MediaPortal services in your first post.  Did you try disabling it?  And reboot?  MediaPortal TVService.exe will definitely take control of your tuner device.  You must make sure it is not running.

No change after disabling MP TVservices.exe.  Same error.
