DTS CD Audio not working
« on: February 20, 2012, 09:31:26 am »

I can't seem to get dts audio from cds to work. I've spent hours looking through the archives, and still can't get it to work. They either play static or seemingly very slow distorted playback. It seems for many, all these issues were cleaned up with 17, and Red October. I hope there is an easy fix. I can either bitstream or decode to pcm. I use hdmi, and have tried everything I can find in the archives that may fix the problem. One thing that I couldn't seem to get to work is installing Arcsoft's dts dll for decoding, I can't seem to get it imported into MC. I am also using wasapi event style.

DTS (as .dts or .wav) is working for me.

A few things to check:
1) Make sure you are using Red October Standard in Options > Video
2) Make sure all file types are set to Automatic in Options > File Types
3) Disable any bitstreaming in Options > Video

Does that get it working?

Thanks.

The Arsoft file "dtsdecoderdll.dll" just gets copied into the Windows "Sys32" folder (or the equivalent folder for x64 version of Windows). There is nothing to import. There is a folder in JRiver that it could be put in too but it will work in the Windows Sys32 and you don't have to worry about being over-writen with a JRiver update or reload.

I have Red October in High Quality mode, didn't think that would disable dts cd. I'll try that, and get back. Thanks!!!

Ok, I found the problem, it was the Arcsoft DTSdecoderdll.dll. Once that was out of the system, it works with one caveat. In Processing, the upsampling 44.1k must be set, it won't allow 88.2. Is there a way for MC to force 44.1k on .dts files? I want the 88.2 on my standard CD sourced files. It seems like this would be an easy modification, is that possible on the next build or something? That would be great, because I really want to be able to seamlessly integrate my library without worrying about the source. Pretty please? Thanks!!!
