When scrolling with the mouse wheel, gridlines are not drawn properly. Expand the Media Library tree, select the Album node and scroll through the content view using the mouse wheel. Something like this will appear:

The spectrum analyzer seems to be missing quite a few frequencies. The "dead spot" in the following image should not be there and the high frequencies are definately exaggerated. I noticed this (and reported it) when the DSP system was overhauled many builds ago.

FFTElements = All
FrequencyScale = Linear
TopWeight = Don't amplify highs
UpScale = Raise bars (a lot)

In the Green Eyes skin, the top right and bottom left corners are very hard to grab because the corner grab area is tiny.

Now that you mention it, can the status bar be turned off?  Looks cleaner w/o it.

Trelane,

I reported the gridline issue on a few of the builds.  It also occurs when you click the vertical scroll bar instead of dragging it.  Jim (please correct me if I'm wrong) said that gridlines are not meant to be on with skins.  It took a little getting use to, but I hardly miss the gridlines.  I do think though that gridlines should automatically be turned off when skins are on.

Video still doesn't get resized properly when you start playing (auto-hide off, internal/windowed/full screen).

Auto-Hide On, windowed mode shows the bar when mouse is not over the window when browsing Media Library.

When using a View Scheme with Playlist Group only, all files show in root menu. This does NOT happen in Playlist views.

When switching libraries, playlists that don't exist show up (previous bug above), all files show instead of files specified.

Sliders/Status, File Properies Entries (Artist, Album, etc), Options (Left side) do not get updated when switching windows appearance settings. Status doesn't get skinned in XP when skins are disabled. File Properties/Vis Studio using wrong appearance colors.

Custom Menus go off screen, unreadable.

File entries like http://server.com get (Unassigned) in file location.

Player Window Status Template text overlaps, unreadable. 640X480 really noticable.

Trelane,

I can see where this can be a problem without skins.  It's really strange that the row heigth becomes inconsistent when scrolling with the mousewheel but not with the keyboard wheel.

Plug-In manager still crashes computer when selecting any encoder from the list. Still very repeatable. Tried hitting escape tonight and playback resumed with no MJ present, blacked out screen. Can this be confirmed by anyone else?

I got a nice bug.
Check this one out.
Put a CD in your cdrom.
Start ripping it (not sure if it makes any difference to whether it happens or not but I was ripping to .wav)
Press eject on your cdrom and watch MJ still claim to be ripping and also show a speed as it's supposedly ripping while I'm holding the CD in my hand. Neat trick huh.

OK, this is different. Much smaller file and Windows needs to be restarted to complete the install. Also the filename has the word "upgrade" in it. We must be near the end.
One wierdness: at the end of the install "after reboot" an error message reports that a "necessary file" was not installed --- regcontrol.dll. I still have the Plus Version according to "help - about media jukebox" and all appears to function normally. So what was the error message telling me. Will I self-destruct in two weeks?

Bug (still):
1. ASX file streams sound poor when played back via a Web Media shortcut...if you open the exact same URL thru Open Streaming File... the sound is much, much better.  Matt knows exactly what I'm talking about...he tested and verified it and knows the details.

Bugs

Visualizations : Ever since introducing the Dispaly Quality menu, dynamic adjustment of vis scaling based on display window size has been lost. Because of this, we can't get good performance in MEGA-ME and good display quality in mini-me without having to manually adjust it.

Plug-Ins : I'm not able to download and install many different plugins lately, including Sleep Timer, which I haven't been able to install for quite a few builds now. The Nomad II plugin is another one. Some install fine, however (OGG Encoder).

MEGA-ME Skinning : Resizing Statistics shows flashes of the transparent color (Green Eyes skin - upper right hand corner of Stats window as you shrink it).

Download Manager : If I start DM from MJ's Tools menu, or from it's Start Menu Shortcut, and I'm not connected to the internet, I get the "Unable to find phonebook entry" error message. This doesn't happen on Windows Startup because of the /WinStartup switch. I could edit the shortcut in the Start Menu manually, but I obviously can't do that with the DM option in MJ's Tools menu.

Haven't actually confirmed whether or not this one is still there, but I didn't see it listed as Fixed so :
CD Rip : When viewing the log for Digital Secure, if I select a section and hit "Play Selection", MJ always just says "Please Select Files To Play"

Display (Track Info) : If "Enable Scroll Bars" is on, "Auto-Hide Bars" is on, and "Resize Display for Bars" is off, then you can't get to the horizontal scroll bar. Perhaps "Resize Display for Bars" should be always on for Track Info when "Enable Scroll Bars" is on?

If my mouse is over a toolbar button that's right above the Drop Target, the Drop Target tooltip appears.

Steve

Handhelds (Nomad II) : Attempting "Download to PC" on multiple files doesn't work. It only downloads one of them.

Handhelds (Nomad II) : "Download to PC" doesn't remember the last place I downloaded to. It always defaults to My Computer.

Handhelds (Nomad II) : I'm still having playback problems with some files after Downloading them from the Nomad. One of the ones I have has a skip in it even though it doesn't on the Nomad, and at one point, the tempo slows down (sounds like a walkman when the batteries are dying) AND it also just stops playing at one point even though MJ indicates there is more to play. I tried to do this from the Nomad Manager software and it just crashes. So it could just be my system, or maybe my Nomad Manager isn't compatible with the firmware/drivers I have? Although I also wouldn't be surprised if it was just that WMA sucks so bad... This is happening with every file I try this with. I tried just converting a file to WMA 64 to see if it was maybe just MJ's wma input plugin, but it plays fine. Oh, and by the way. Spider-man was AWESOME. I've seen it twice. Next Page

Here's a link to it so you can hear for yourself. http://doof.webryders.com/MJ/Downloads/Misc/The_Calling_-_Wherever_You_Will_Go.wma

If I do a search in Find Music based on location, and then move the files that show up in the results, they aren't removed from the search results like they should be (since they don't match the criteria anymore).

minor bug; when getting image from scanner, 'can't load TWAIN driver' error message is displayed; Canoscan N670U with Scangear CS-U TWAIN driver. Click on OK, Scangear CS-U launches and performs preview scan, can go ahead and complete the scan fine, Scangear CS-U driver successfully transfers the image to MJ and everything saves fine, just an inappropriate error message...

Quick Play : Navigating the Quick Play menu with the arrow keys doesn't work right if the mouse cursor isn't moved out of the way. If I right click on the display window, and then, without moving the mouse, try to navigate the various menus with the arrow keys, the mouse cursor always steals the focus away. The biggest problem with this is that I can't program Girder to navigate quickplay because of this.

1.  Plug-in page under heading "new to mj", select "download files", fails to open help file.

2.  Add external image to group of files.  Coverart is displayed. Close properties. Reopen properties, link to image is displayed but not the image.  Have to add the image to each file individually for the image to display and save.

Still in 8.0.270beta
Still in 8.0.267beta
Still in 8.0.266beta
Bug in 8.0.265beta - CD names not shown correctly

Still the process of reading the content of MP3 CDs is not real good. If
a CD, that shows up in the explorer as 'Complete_CDs_01', is read, the
section File Location shows (0x5601E92A) and the section CD and DVD media a
CD named 'unassigned'. If I add mores CDs, it still shows a single
'unassigned' folder instead of the real name of the CD. Out of 5 CDs
'Complete_CDs_01' through 'Complete_CDs_05' only the last showed with
correct name under CD and DVD media.

To show the content of a specific CD is therefore not straight forward!

Can this be changed?

My system: NT 4.0 with all SPs, 500 Mhz PIII, 198MB RAM

Something's wrong when playing a streaming WMA file. It will say buffering all the time (some skips but the sound is not really good).

I noticed when this is happening for a little bit, it said "stopped" when it wasn't and then it started playing fine after this. (Live)

I mentioned this a few builds back but I'm still seeing it. On my Win2K box at work I can click on the taskbar and bring up mega-me even with mini-me active. So I then have both views active at once if I try to work with mege-me MJ gets all confused. To get bak in sync I have to minimize mega-me and return to mega-me through the mini-me skin. I don't see this on my XP box. Am I the only one seeing this?

Doof,

After you get 8.0.270 and the NomadII Plug-in version 3.0.11 could you retest the Nomad II bugs you reported. I just retested them and everything appears fine. The multiple file Nomad to PC transfer and path remembering were bugs of mine that I fixed. The loss of quality of the file is most likely a firmware/driver issue. If you still see(hear?) that one, check that you have the latest stand alone drivers downloaded from Creative and tell me what firmware you have so I can compare and try to verify what is going on.

Thanks for the Spiderman tip. As a new father of a 7 month old, I have forgotten what a movie theater looks like. I will catch it on video in a year.

Thanks.

Steve> Last night at home, I had .270 installed, but I couldn't update the Nomad II plugin because of the "failed to install package" errors I keep getting.

Here, at work, I cannot upgrade to .270. I've downloaded the .265 beta and the .270 upgrade. I installed .265 with no problem but when I try the .270 upgrade, I get these error messages:

Bugs:
1. DSP Studio popup does not stay on top (of MJ's main window).

2. While downloading music via the Download Manager (with 'Play Downloaded' option set), if you are in Playing Now and press Shift|PLS|Delete to delete some tracks from Playing Now & from the hard disk (optionally)...and DM finishes downloading a track or two and adds them to the Playing Now playlist while the Confirm Delete dialog is displayed, the selection(s) in Playing Now are changed (to the currently playing track). If you go ahead and press the Delete button in the Confirm Delete dialog, MJ deletes the the currently selected track(s)...not the tracks that were selected when you first pressed Shift|PLS|Delete. This has the pontential to cause deletions from MJ and disk that the user actually did not select (because of the DM additions to Playing Now after the Confirm Delete dialog was displayed). This is probably an issue if you are deleting from Recently Imported too and you have DM's 'Import Downloaded' option set.

3. If your system is muted (eg, tray speaker icon muted) and you start MJ, MJ always un-mutes your system. If I've muted my system, I want it muted and don't want any program automatically un-muting it for me.  The MJ Startup Volume option should not un-mute, but just set the volume (like I asked it to).

OK after more testing it appears that only the first import from a CD drive will now show thw Volume Name. Any subsequent imports of oter CDs from the same drive show the uneditable name of "unassigned".

I'm going to tell I lie, it could be the the vanilla vodka and diet dr. pepper waxing poetic, but I feel I need to alleviate Nikolay's troubled soul by surprising him with a response that isn't bug related. Smile Nikolay, you're doing a hell of a job and though we ennvision a utopian MEDIA JUKEBOX, we revel in the opportunity to help you make it even better through our fly swatting.

Again like since 5-6 builds, if I left click on  GO Start in the MJB tree I get an error saying thatMJ can't find index.htm. What's going on?
This new build seems to me a little less stable, in particular using Nomad JB handhelds plug-in.

Thanks

Re-doing DSP settings after fresh install caused this error:

MEDIA JUKEBOX caused an invalid page fault in
module COMCTL32.DLL at 0167:bfb868fe.

MJ was playing at the time. No other apps running.

In the visualisation studio, using COVER_ART in the Image layer makes black areas transparent. This works for things like the MJ logo, but looks bad on cover photos with large black areas. If you need transparency for stuff, you should support GIF's which have proper a transparency colour.

On a related note, MJ does support GIF's for cover art but doesn't have .gif as a recognised extension. However, if you rename a .gif file to .jpg it works fine.

· Jumping to Playing Now does not work
· By customizing file associations m3u (and mpl)is always associated (and I don't want that...)
· When setting Download Manager to 'disable browser integration' it doesn't respect my choice
· CD Labeler never gets any Cover Arts as background images
· By using the same library from two different C:\-partitions MJ doesn't remember the CD/DVD section and also not all playlist-events
· Tree & View Sorting does not work properly (if I do it by hand in the list in the same order it works correctly)
· Why is black set as transparent in the visualization of cover arts?
· Why do I have to remove a cover art first before MJ will find a new one for me in the internet?
· How can I make a complete clean-up including all, and I mean really all registry entries ever made by all these MJ Beta versions to make sure producing an absolutely clean install the next time? Will you maybe develop a little tool to to that?

Bug:
1. Deleting tracks from (normal maintenance of) playlists causes the input to always move back to the first track in the playlists.  This makes it a pain to one-by-one delete tracks from the playlists (if you are forced to start from track #1 after every single delete).  Playing Now had this problem a few releases back (Matt acknowleged this) and Playing Now was fixed (JRiver termed this problem as 'update was too aggressive', I think).  Well, I guess Playing Now was fixed, but the other playlist updates are still 'too aggressive'.

CD-TEXT still is not read using my Firewire CD Drives either via ASPI or IDE settings.

Firewire drives will not play via ASPI even with the latest 4.7 version from Adaptec.

I love being able to minimize the cd copy window independently of the main window, however there is a problem associated with this:

Select "rip cd"
Select "options" in cd copy window
Change an option and click "ok"
Both the cd copy window and option window move behind the main MJ window, giving the user (at least this user) the impression that they've closed.  Of course, when the cd copy button is clicked, an error box says that the cd copy window is already open.
