Playback
« on: April 27, 2012, 01:13:23 pm »

MC defaults to automatically playing the next item in a list once the current item ends. This is fine for music but not to good for video. I can select Stop After Current File Ctrl+Shift+S but I need to do this after playback starts which is not convinient because I use Theater Mode. So I am looking for a command that I can use to start video playback that will by default stop after the current file.

I found "10006 MCC_CONTINUOUS" but I am not quite clear how this is used. If I set it to 1, does this mean that the default behaviour changes to stop after current file? If so when do I invoke this? Is it sticky between playbacks? Or, am I wrong and this does not affect playback?

I slso found "10036 MCC_STOP_AFTER_CURRENT_FILE" does this start playback and just end at the end? This would be perfect if it did.

Thx

Start playback, and then issue:

   mc17.exe /mcc 10036,1

This will SET the Stop After Current File mode.   The command:

   mc17.exe /mcc 10036,0

will unset this, so playback will advance to the next track in Playing Now.  The command:

   mc17.exe /mcc 10036,-1

will toggle the value from its current state.

So there is a command line command mc17. I can use this set stuff? Awesome.

OK, so I can "mc17.exe /mcc 10036,1" to set Stop After Current File. I do this after I start MC? Is this persistent for as long as MC is running?

Oh, sorry, I figured you knew some of this stuff already, since you are already in the MCC arena.

These two will get you started.  Some of the Command Line commands will launch MC and start playback.

   http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/The_Command_Line
   http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Media_Center_Core_Commands

MCC commands typically operate on a running MC.

The 10036 command will persist until either MC is shutdown or the mode is changed by you.

Hehe. I am figuring out as I go. I am a two week MC17 veteran. But let me tell you, it has been awesome. I converted my XBMC movie nfo files to sidecar files. I have created custom layouts for Theater View once I discovered Expressions. Yesterday I learned about Particles, this blew me away becuase I have always wanted to do what this feature will allow me to do. I am going to name that special menu Higgs.

MC17 is awesome. Out of the box, it'll do music brilliantly, the views etc... For video specifically Movies and TV Shows however it takes a bit of technical skill to get the Theater View layouts the way I like them. I still need to do more for TV shows and I will probably make some feature requests.

Playback quality for video and audio is top notch, especially since I can use madVR and LAV Filters. Actually, madVR and LAV are a prerequisite or I wouldn't be here.

Finally, this forum has been great. I have posted a few questions and got great and quick responses.

Depending on who asks, and what is asked, we call them 'improvements'. :)
