Gizmo and video
« on: May 02, 2012, 06:43:49 am »

I have been able to play my music all around the world thanks to gizmo but never been able  to play any video.
I am not really new to JRiver as i use it for 8 years now.
Until now i thought that i could not play video because of my old terminal an HTC HD2 with coredroid rom but now i have a brand new HTC One X -android 4 ics.
I can have access to jriver DLNA server and play video on the mobile when using applications like bubbleupnp+mxplayer or vplayer alone. This is to the condition that i set on the server an MPEG2 encoder; ie mpeg2 low bandwidth stream for instance . But this is also too fast if i want to watch from a non local wifi network. mp4 encoders look to not been able to work for me.
When trying to play with gizmo i can see the database but when i want to start a video i just get a blank and then black screen (as if it couldn't start the viewer and parse the file ) .
Computer server  is a powerful i7cpu860
I am using the latest version of gizmo on the market and jriver 17.0.129.
The questions are then :
Are mp4 encoders supposed to work with dlna ? Should I add something to get them working?
Is Gizmo working with android 4 for video ?

Thanks anyway for this good sofware

What happens if you test it with a wireless LAN connection when you're at home?

Well i am presently making most of my test on wifi at home and video does't work with Gizmo. It works with other dlna software but only if JRiver server is set to an mpeg conversion.

Could you try WebGizmo on a regular computer (even the server) and see if you can play video there?

This will tell us if the server is working.

Thanks.

Yes I have tried on the server computer and on another computer and for all type of files and it works well. However it seems that there is no conversion here as the meter gives 5 to 6 mb/s

No first it is not working, webplayer could connect to the server but not display any film. But I saw flash in the URL when using webplayer and I uninstall flash player and reinstall it from the market, webplayer was still not showing anything but I tried Gizmo again and it starts to work!! I am then able to see movies on my local network with Gizmo. However Looking at the Network Meter it is very probable that no conversion is taking place whatever encoder I set  on the JRiver server.
Thank you very much for this great progress already.
Now is there anything I should do to get the conversion done ?

I was unable to get non-mp4 to play with Gizmo on my iPad. I wonder if this is the same issue?

Try WebGizmo, not WebPlayer.  See the wiki for information on it.

Video conversion is not currently configurable for Gizmo.  It requires about 5 Mbit.

Someday we hope to make this configurable.

Sorry it was a typo error I of course tried webgizmo. It can not play video neither music with webgizmo , it says it has no reader for it. However I am able to read video locally on Gizmo now that I uninstall and reinstall flashplayer.

As a workaround if I want to see video out of home with a lower bandwidth I'll be using "qloud media" until Gizmo has conversion.

Thank you very much for your help.
