5.1 Downsampling to 2.0 Problem
« on: May 27, 2012, 08:21:39 pm »

I'm not always using my Onkyo AV-Receiver when watching movies.
So I created a Zone for TV.(PC->HDMI->TV) with Direct Sound.
Downsampling 5.1 to 2.0 basically works like it should be.

Sound is good but speaking is too silent.

So i played around with "Room-Correction" and "Parametric Equalizer" to increase Volume on Center Speaker.
But it doesn't work.

Is there any way to increase Volume on Center Speaker when downsampling 5.1 to 2.0?

There's a correct energy balance to use when downmixing.  It matches the sound you would hear in a calibrated theater.

JRSS uses this, and it's not configurable.

If you're just trying to get more volume from a weak set of 2.0 speakers, you might try a compressor VST DSP.

TV Speakers are not to weak.

For Example:
Explosions which are coming from 4 Speakers (front/rear) are much to loud.
And speaking then is to silent.

Is there really no "simple" way to increase the center speaker before 5.1 gets downmixed to 2.0?
With no additional Plugins, just with MC?
