Confused by last.fm and MC
« on: May 29, 2012, 05:00:46 am »

Hi,

On the last.fm website, I can login, play a radio based on an artist tag, stream anything I want basically. I do not pay for this.

In MC, when I try and use the radio feature, it says I'm not a subscriber.

Do I have to pay last.fm to get through MC what I can get for free via their own website?

In MC options for services, you can enter your login and password.

Hi Jim, yes, did that. On the off-chance that the change didn't take for some reason, I deleted the account in MC and re-authorised it through Last.fm's website. It still says I'm not a subscriber and refuses point blank to play radio.  :(

I'm also a bit confused as to what your response has to do with my question? Do I have to pay to use in MC what I can get for free through the last.fm website?

Last.fm scrobbling is free.

Last.fm premium ad-free radio playback (Player > Play Last.fm Radio...) requires you to subscribe to Last.fm.

I might add that technically Last.fm radio is really nice: well thought-out SDK, developers that write back, and no DRM.
