NUC= Next Unit of Computing

Made by Intel.  Small (4"x4"x1") PC with an i5, Thunderbolt, USB3, and HDMI out.  Maybe $400.

I was hoping for a Raspberry Pi with intel CPU. But this one might do better with full blown MC clients. It will be quite expensive to put one of those in each room of my house though :o

It sounds like memory and hard drive are not included which makes this pretty expensive by the time you have everything...

More details on anandtech today. $300 w/o memory, Power lead (Ta glynor!).  Intel HD4000 GPU and VESA mount would make a good RO Standard capable unit for attaching straight onto the TV.

Looks interesting.

SBR

Edit: corrected PSU, but not lead included.

The CPU is a mobile Core i3 for both models, not an i5 as was originally reported.  The one Anand got from Intel (which is the nicer Thunderbolt version), came with a 17w Core i3-3217U running at 1.8GHz.

Also note, it does come with an integrated Power Supply.  It includes:

Motherboard and CPU
Chassis
PSU

It does not include:
Power cord
RAM
Storage (mSATA)
WiFi (though it has space for a 1/2 height mini PCIe card, and antennas pre-routed inside)

I bought one of these, loaded up Win8, JRiver and it makes a nice, tiny, extremely quiet HTPC.

I had the ram (notebook ram repurposed) and the solid state msata drive (other project,  discontinued) so it really only cost me the $300.

My supplier (NCIX) included the power cable, so all good.

I just ordered an intel 6235 wireless card ($28) to make it complete.
