Very Shocking
« on: July 21, 2012, 06:49:25 pm »

So yesterday a Storm came over the house, bolts of lightning came out of the sky, and hit out side the house very close.

Router Fried, One Of My TVs Is Fried, Cable Modem Fried, My 8-Port Switch Fried, Part Of My TV Signal Distribution System Is Fried, Some Siding Came Off The House (I fixed Today).

Today The Cable Company Replaced The Cable Modem, The Rest Should Be Here On Monday (I Hope).

So about $500 In Damage.

Close by lightning has got to be one of nature's scariest things.

We had a strike on the HFC network near our house once and lost tons of stuff connected to the home network, it is worth checking stuff that has a modem it in / connected to the phone lines (eg Fax, PC's etc) as we blew both of these as well as stuff plugged into ethernet (eg also lost a PS3)

If he is, he is making an impression.

It's this heat, and in the afternoons it builds into a storm almost every afternoon for the past 2 months or so.

Are we experiencing more extreme hot weather due to climate change? The evidence is in.

Have you considered grounding your shoes?

well the cable guy said they will return next week to lay a new line, and the current line is not grounded correctly (it's not grounded at all).

I should take a picture of my Omnidirectional antenna is in like 3 parts now, the other one seems undamaged, except I know it burned out the rotor, and the amplifier since there are burn marks on it, and it blew the cover off of it, no need to remove the screws because they riped out also..

I made Gyro's for dinner, yummy.
