JRiver limits output to Audiophilleo2 to 24/96
« on: September 13, 2012, 01:15:14 pm »

Hi, I'm having some problems playing 24/176 and 24/192 to my DAC and need some help.

Using JRiver MC17 alone:

JRiver MC17 -> Audiophilleo 2 -> NAD c 390dd
Using custom device driver v1.7 from Audiophilleo

JRiver shows a 24/192 file is being played, NAD shows it is playing a 24/96 file.

Tried WASAP, WASAPI event, Kernel, etc but nothing changes.

vs.

Using jPlay:

jPlay Mini (or jPlay plugin for JRiver) -> Audiophilleo 2 -> NAD c 390dd
Using custom device driver v1.7 from Audiophilleo

jPlay shows a 24/192 file is being played, NAD shows it is playing a 24/192 file.

I imagine there's something wrong with my settings... what can I do to solve this mystery?

Double-check your settings in DSP Studio > Output Format.

Also, you can always use 'Audio Path' to get the complete details about the output.  Mouse over the DSP button near the top right of the program while playing.

Did you check Open device for exclusive access when you used WASAPI event style?  If you didn't, audio goes through the Windows audio stack and is converted to the system wide sample rate / bit depth.

Hi Santiago, I have the same DAC amp and I believe the maximum the NAD 390DD will play is 24/96 using USB A to USB B.

I have read that there may be a module released later this year that will enable 24/192 potentially (however there is no confirmation of this).

Hope this helps.
