8.x burning woes
« on: April 18, 2002, 12:14:56 pm »

I've been unable to burn CDs from MJ on my Pioneer DVR-103 (a DVD-RW drive) for the last couple months of beta releases.  I get the following error:

A device error occurred. Error number is 1002
Error data is: KEY: 2 ASC: 4 ASCQ: 8

Burning works just fine in Nero, as does burning using Windows Explorer (I'm running XP).  As a workaround I've been using MJ to save M3U files with my track lists, loading the M3Us into Nero, and burning from there.  But it'd be nice to skip the extra steps.

I'm pretty sure it was working at one point, though I might be thinking back to before I got this drive.

Oops, posted that before I was done.  I was going to add a bit of system information:

Windows XP Professional
Drive is running the latest firmware (1.68)
Athlon XP 1.4GHz, Gigabyte KT266A motherboard
Auto insert notification disabled

The drive is also known as the DVR-A03.

Anyone else having luck burning CDs with this drive?

You might want to take a look at some of the other threads on this, and at the FAQ.

The Pioneer DVR-A03 (103?) is a known problem with Media Jukebox. This is being worked on and a future update should solve the problem.

You know what, though? It might be something having to do with NERO. Recently I posted a question about how to erase a CDRW that had been finalized by MJ, and the solution I came to was to install Nero and let it erase the disc. Since that time, since the installation of Nero, I've encountered MJ errors such as the one Mr. koreth describes. I was holding off on posting until I got some consistent reproductions on it, but since it's being brought up now I thought I'd tickle you with it.

Thanks for the news, JohnT.  I'll look forward to that update.

I don't think this is Nero's fault, BTW; I only installed Nero on this PC after I tried burning with MJ and it didn't work.
