How To Fix VC-1 Interlaced Blu-Ray Video
« on: November 08, 2012, 10:46:20 pm »

VC-1 interlaced video has always been a major playback problem for me. So I apply the following process for results that look and sound fantastic in MC.

1. Rip the disk to file (not iso) with "AnyDVD HD". (You can skip this step and rip with "Make MKV" if you do not own "AnyDVD HD")

2. Put only the video and audio that you want into an MKV container with "Make MKV" (usually the main title and an audio track). A feature of "Make MKV" is that it can convert multi-channel 24 bit LPCM to lossless multi-channel 24 bit FLAC to save space. Most lossless multi-channel audio is already compressed as Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio. "Make MKV" does not alter the video or the these lossless audio formats.

3. Transcode the video to H264 and de-interlace with "RipBot264". Do this with no audio track.

4. Use "MKVtoolNix" to mux (combine) the audio from step 2 with the video from step 3. Use the chapter editor to name the chapters if you want. This is great for concert video song titles.

5. Put the finished MKV in your MC video library.
