Suitable usb hybrid tuner to watch digital and cable?
« on: March 19, 2013, 05:49:22 pm »

I have wasted days trying to find a suitable usb base hybrid tuner that works with
jriver. After posting the question a lack of replies seems to suggest that i am asking too
much .
This is not a slight at the wonderful users in this community but since there seems no way of
lodging support with jriver directly this is my option .

This is JRiver.  If you've posted about this before, reply to your thread to bring it to the top.

What tuners have you considered?

Yes Jim my apologies , this has been driving me a bit nuts.
i have tried the compro videomate usb u2650 ( Worked in WMC but analogue was not fluid ) Failed to initialize message in JRiver .
Also the eyetv elgato 250 again worked in WMC but not JRiver.
I am looking for something that does the hardware encoding to try and give a fluid result with the analogue recording  , more akin to off the shelf dvico style pvrs .
unfortunately it has to be usb as i am using a mac mini running windows natively .
Any suggestions from our users would be great.
I am a JRiver evangelist I absolutely love This app I have purchased also for my mac , more to support a great thing than anything else. and  i just want it to be my only media system.
Cheers

There have been a few builds in which analog tuner support were broken.  Make sure you try with the latest MC build.  The device you tried, compro videomate usb u2650, does not seem to be common.  Nonetheless we maybe able to make it work if you provide me with some basic info.  On the other hand, I am sure you know as you have looked into HD PVR 2, Hauppauge has quite a few USB devices that work fine, aside from HD PVR.  It all depends on your needs and your budget.
